Dementia in the African American Community:

CLINICAL TRIALS AT DUKE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER

Dr. Heidi White, a geriatrician at Duke, and the Neoroscience Clinical Research Organization at Duke are conducting a study to determine whether medication is effective in improving memory. Participants must be 55+, non-smokers, no major health problems, and have a companion to confirm memory problem for research purposes. Dr. Murali Doraiswamy and Dr. John Beyer from Duke are conducting several different clinical trails for Alzheimer's research. For information and participant requirements on these studies, please contact Marilyn Aiello at (919) 681-3949.

The Genes, Environment, and Memory (GEM) Project is being conducted through the Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at the Duke University Medical Center. Their mission is to understand the basic biological factors underlying memory problems in aging. For information about research participation, contact Michelle I.
